Statement of Purpose

 

The purpose of this course is to make the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) practitioner/professional aware of new and current technology relating to the expanding field of microbial sampling. This course will review the EPA’s Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) sampling and analytical methodology and the related laboratory Mold Specific Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (MSQPCR) procedures.  The course will also acquaint the student with new equipment technology available to the field inspector.  Ultimately, the information disseminated by this course is intended to enable the student to understand and clearly explain new IEQ technology and laboratory data to the general public.  

Upon successful completion of the course and the final exam attendees will receive a certificate indicating they are Alexeter Defender/Guardian – IAQ certified.

Eight Hours – Approved for Continuing Education (ABIH, AmIAQC and others)

  Course Length – 8 hours for CEU’s

Goals:

  • Students will receive  the knowledge and hands-on experience to confidently conduct a DNA -based mold investigation.

  • Students will be trained to write reports in an efficient and concise manner that facilitates the clients understanding, while delivering tangible metrics of recommendation.

  • Students will become well versed in the science behind DNA and immunoassay testing with the ability to explain the technology in lay terms to their clients and provide more technical explanations when required.
